Summary

• Your notes are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase. The developer never has your passphrase, your key, or your notes.
• Notelle has no server of its own. If you turn on sync, encrypted data is stored in your own Google Drive.
• Notelle does not collect analytics, does not sell data, and does not use your data for advertising or AI training.

Data stored on your device

Notes, edit history and attachments are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM). The encryption key is derived from your passphrase (PBKDF2-SHA256, 600,000 iterations) and is held only in memory while the app is unlocked. Settings such as the color theme, display language and editor preferences are stored unencrypted. If you register a passkey or biometric unlock, a wrapped copy of the key is stored on the device so that it can only be unwrapped by that passkey or biometric.

Some metadata is not encrypted: note identifiers, timestamps of edits and deletions, and the number and size of notes. This metadata is needed to merge changes between devices.

Google Drive (optional)

If you sign in with Google and turn on sync or backup, Notelle requests the drive.appdata scope only, which gives access to an app-private area of your Google Drive (the "application data folder"). It stores encrypted sync files, encrypted backups and encrypted attachments there. This area is not shown in the Drive UI and no other app can read it. Google can see file names, sizes and timestamps, but not the content. The data counts toward your Drive storage. You can delete all of it at any time in Drive settings under Manage apps ("Delete hidden app data"), and it is also deleted if you disconnect Notelle from your Drive. Notelle reads your Google account's email address and profile picture only to show which account is in use; it never sends them anywhere.

Notelle's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Pro license (Chrome extension)

Purchases are handled by Polar (polar.sh), the merchant of record. When you enter a license key, the extension sends the key, an activation identifier and a short device label (for example "Notelle (macOS)") to Polar to verify it, and re-verifies at most once a day. The key is also stored in your Chrome profile's sync storage so that your other Chrome devices are licensed. No note content is ever sent to Polar.

Chrome sync (Chrome extension)

The Chrome extension stores your encryption settings (salt, iteration count and the wrapped key — never the passphrase), your plan state and your license key in Chrome's sync storage, so that your other Chrome devices can unlock the same notes. Chrome encrypts this storage with your Google account.

External content

When a note contains an image from the web or a link, the preview loads that image and the site's favicon directly from the external site, which can see your IP address. Notelle does not add any tracking of its own.

Exports

Files you export yourself (JSON and ZIP) are not encrypted, so that you can recover your notes even if you forget your passphrase. Keep them safe.

What is not collected

No ads, analytics, crash reporting, usage statistics, or account on a Notelle server. The developer cannot read, recover or reset your notes or passphrase.

Google API から受け取った情報の利用は、Limited Use の要件を含む Google API Services User Data Policy に従います。

Pro版のライセンス (Chrome 拡張)

書き出し

自分で書き出すファイル (JSON・ZIP) は暗号化しません。パスフレーズを忘れてもメモを取り戻せるようにするためです。安全な場所に保管してください。

収集しないもの

広告・利用統計・クラッシュレポート・Notelle 独自のアカウントはありません。開発者はメモやパスフレーズを読むことも、復元・リセットすることもできません。
